Rural Investment Strategy

Interact for Health is continuing strategic investments to support community-driven change through funding and collaboration with community members, leaders, and organizations within our rural regions.

Our Rural Region

Fourteen out of 20 counties in Interact for Health's service area are considered rural. To be eligible for funding through the Rural Strategy, organizations must serve the following counties:

  • Indiana (Dearborn, Franklin, Ripley, Switzerland, Ohio)
  • Ohio (Clermont, Brown, Adams, Clinton, Highland)
  • Kentucky (Bracken, Gallatin, Grant, Pendleton)

Rural Changemaker Request for Proposal (RFP)

The goal of the Rural Changemaker RFP is to promote health and well-being in the rural regions in Interact for Health’s service area by providing funding to address grassroots work in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky related to the vital conditions for health and well-being –the resources we all need to thrive. Applications for the first round of 2026 funding are now open. Find the full RFP and resources on our Open Funding page

Learn about prior Rural Changemaker Grant Recipients on our blog (2024 Round 1, Round 2, Round 3.  2025 Round 1, Round 2.)

Rural Community Council

The Rural Community Council is made up of community members who live or work in the rural counties in Interact for Health’s service area. Council members will work collaboratively to review and score grant applications for the Rural Changemaker Grant, and advise on projects for funding. Read more about Rural Council Members' experience on our blog

Rural Community Connections

As part of the launch of our rural investment strategy, Interact for Health hosted a series of networking events for community members to meet with our team and learn more about this strategy and grant opportunities.
